Bank signs agreement with Chinese partners

PETALING JAYA: ECM Libra Financial Group Bhd said its investment banking division ECM Libra Investment Bank has entered into an agreement with China’s Dacheng Law Offices and Hejun Consulting.

Dacheng is a partnership law firm and Hejun is a consulting company.

ECM Libra said in a statement the cooperation would enable the parties to share bilateral knowledge on policies, regulations, financial markets and economic development in the Asia-Pacific region.

The partnership would serve as a platform for ECM Libra, Dacheng and Hejun to participate in greater growth of the Asia-Pacific market, and in particular, South-East Asia.

The co-operation follows the recognition of Malaysia as an approved investment destination under China’s Qualified Domestic Institutional Investor scheme administered by the China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC).

ECM Libra said Malaysia’s inclusion as an approved investment destination was a major step forward for the Malaysian capital market.

“It will facilitate the flow of Chinese funds into Malaysia and open up business opportunities for the Malaysian capital market intermediaries,” it said.
