Brokerage income boosts ECM profit

PETALING JAYA: ECM Libra Financial Group Bhd said its third quarter ended Oct 31 net profit rose to RM7.34mil on revenue of RM29.76mil against a net profit of RM1.6mil and turnover of RM20.3mil a year earlier.

The improved year-on-year results was boosted by higher brokerage income of RM8.4mil, investment and trading income of RM5.8mil and net interest income of RM6.1mil.

These helped offset the group’s operating expenses of RM17.7mil.

However, the group’s performance during the three months under review was weaker compared with the immediate preceeding quarter on lower market turnover on Bursa Malaysia.

Nine months’ net profit stood at RM27.68mil, or 3.38 sen per share, and the group expects to record “satisfactory performance” for the full year given its strong “fundamentals and balance sheet.”
