ECM Libra Financial Group Bhd's pre-tax profit rose to RM8.7 million in its third quarter ended Oct 30, 2009 from RM1.2 million posted in same quarter last year.

Revenue surged to RM29.8 million from RM20.3 million previously.

The higher profit was due to net brokerage income of RM8.4 million, investment and trading income of RM5.8 million as well as net interest income of RM6.1 million, partially offset by operating expenses of RM17.7 million.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia today, the group said its fundamentals and balance remain strong and that it expected to show satisfactory performance in the current financial year.
