The corporate figures going include Genting group chairman Tan Sri
Lim Kok Thay, AirAsia Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Tony Fernandes,
Boustead Holdings Bhd group managing director Tan Sri Lodin Wok
Kamaruddin and Sapura group chief executive officer Datuk Shahril
Shamsuddin.
Besides holding one-on-one meetings with the fund managers, Najib
will also host a dinner for Hong Kong's captains of industry.
During a briefing yesterday, ECM Libra Avenue Bhd chief executive
officer Datuk Seri Kalimullah Hassan said the roadshow's main objective
was "to keep Malaysia on the radar screen" of fund managers.
"The world is very competitive now and we have to do this
to ensure that the fund managers will take notice of Malaysia,"
he said.
The roadshow is being jointly organised by ECM Libra and Credit
Suisse.
Kalimullah said the Malaysian delegation was expected to highlight
the opportunities in the country's growth corridors and in other
areas such as commodities and properties.
"You can expect foreign fund managers to be interested in
issues like the ease of repatriating money, the latest developments
in Proton and maybe even on politics like when the next general
elections would be held," he said.
The structure of the Hong Kong roadshow would follow closely to
that of the one held in Singapore in May, he said, adding: "That
roadshow was successful because the presence of the country's leaders
there showed that Malaysia was serious when it came to attracting
foreign fund managers."
Najib will also hold a reception for the Malaysian community in
Hong Kong.
